SPIRITUAL FORMATION AND SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES

Formation – the manner in which a thing is formed; disposition of parts; formal structure or arrangement

Discipline - training to act in accordance with rules, an activity, exercise, or regimen that develops or improves a skill, behavior in accord with rules of conduct; behavior and order maintained by training and control.

Note: the root word of “discipline” is disciple

Disciple – a person who is a pupil or an adherent of the doctrines of another. Any professed follower of Christ.

TEN QUESTIONS TO DIAGNOSE YOUR SPIRIUTAL HEALTH

1. Is Sola Scriptura the practical principle of your life? Is your life increasingly goverened by God’s Word?

2. Do You Thirst for God?

3. Are you More Loving?

4. Are you more sensitive to God’s presence?

5. Do you have a growing concern for the spiritual and temporal needs of others?

6. Do you delight in the Bride of Christ?

7. Are the Spiritual Disciplines increasingly important to you?

8. Do you grieve over sin?

9. Are you a quicker forgiver?

10. Do you yearn for heaven and to be with Jesus?

SPIRITUAL FORMATION THROUGH SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE

Learning, integrating, and practicing the disciplined activities that form and shape our spiritual lives and catalyze greater sanctification in our soul.

1. Bible Intake

How to saturate yourself in Scripture with a more consistent input of God’s Word into your life.

2. Worship

How important is focusing our minds attention and our hearts affection on Christ regularly?

3. Serving

What role does serving play in spiritual growth? How?

4. Prayer

We know we should pray, but how can we do that more effectively in the midst of the reality of chaotic lives?

Practical strategies for more intentional evangelism in the context of the rhythm of your routines.
